Umrah (Arabic: عمرة) is an Islamic pilgrimage. It is performed in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Umrah can be undertaken at any time of the year. In Arabic, the word “Umrah” means traveling to a populous place. In Islamic terminology, Umrah refers to performing Tawaf around the Kaaba and Sa’i between the hills of Safa and Marwah while being in the state of Ihram. In this respect, Umrah bears similarity to Hajj.
